Take Flight – Acroyoga comes to Dumfries

I’m very excited to be hosting two visiting Welsh dragons to Scotland to hold an acroyoga workshop here in Dumfries – possibly the region’s first acroyoga session?

During the dark days at the end of the year, when you’re maybe feeling jaded, full of mince pies and bored of shopping, an acroyoga workshop is exactly the sort of thing that will lift your spirits and give you a boost to start the new year.

The ‘Take flight, Acroyoga Workshop’ will be for everyone, beginners to those with more experience of yoga or acroyoga and will be a fun and playful introduction to the practice of acroyoga.

Acroyoga is a combination of yoga, acrobatics and therapeutic arts. Practiced in pairs or small groups, acroyogis work and play together to create balances, sequences, flows and healing hang-outs.

The workshop will be taught by Sam and Steve from Aberystwyth, Wales. They have been enjoying Yoga, Acrobatics and Acroyoga since 2012 and have been teaching Acroyoga for the last three years. They took the VanCity Acro teacher training and continue to explore and develop learning and teaching methods that take their students beyond their expectations. They travel and share their practice wherever they go, and run weekly classes in their hometown Aberystwyth, Wales. They love helping people surprise themselves as they uncover the possibilities of trust, connection and challenge that acroyoga embodies.

You don’t need to be super-flexi and strong, or a mega experienced yogi or acrobat before you start. Practicing acroyoga will build flexibility and strength, but mainly it should be tried because it’s extremely good fun! It will certainly give your laughing muscles a good workout. Here’s a picture of me from several years ago balancing on Steve.
